Malabar Hill, Weligama Bay, Sri Lanka
1 to 7 March 2027
Yeotown x Malabar Hill, together for one week only.
Ten years ago, Mercedes and Simon brought a small group to Sri Lanka's southern coast. They have wanted to go back ever since.
In March 2027 they return, for one week only, with a handful of guests. At its heart is a week of deep, daily practice with Mercedes, set against the jungle, the ocean and the island itself. Each evening you come home to one of the most beautiful boutique hotels on the island.
This is a true deep dive. Every day begins with an immersive, full-spectrum Vinyasa session with Mercedes, a pioneer of Vinyasa Flow Yoga in the UK. A strong, fluid and intelligent practice that builds over the week, as the island wakes around you.
As the sun goes down, the practice turns inwards. Evening sessions slow everything down, softening the body and settling the mind so you sleep deeply and wake ready for more.
Whether you have practised for years or want to take your practice somewhere new, you will leave stronger, clearer and with a deeper understanding of what your body can do.

Set high on a jungle hilltop above Weligama Bay, Malabar Hill is one of the most quietly sought-after hideaways in Sri Lanka. There are just fourteen villas, each standing alone among cinnamon trees, each with its own pool looking out over the Indian Ocean towards the golden curve of Mirissa. Whitewashed walls, hand-carved wood, a saltwater infinity pool, lantern-lit dinners in an open pavilion among the treetops. Nothing is loud and nothing is rushed.
It is a place people discover by word of mouth and return to year after year. Mercedes and Simon love it for the same reason they love Devon and Madeira: some places do half the work for you. Here, you wake to birdsong and ocean, practise above the trees, and fall asleep with the jungle breathing around you.

For those who want it, the ocean is waiting. Simon, an avid surfer, will take the group out to the long, gentle breaks of Weligama Bay with expert local coaches alongside. Never stood on a board? This is one of the kindest places in the world to learn. Prefer to watch from the sand? That is part of the week too with plenty of swimming and sun time.

Between practice, the south coast opens up. One afternoon we head to Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where four centuries of Portuguese, Dutch and British history meet the Indian Ocean. There is time to wander its old lanes, lined with stylish boutiques, beautiful art galleries and some of Sri Lanka's most exciting designers, before climbing to the rooftop at The Charleston for sunset drinks as the light turns gold over the bay. Then dinner together inside the old fort walls, as the lanterns come on.
Closer to home, we visit Kushtarajagala, the ancient figure carved into the rock above Weligama, a quiet place steeped in local legend. And as always with Mercedes' Vinyasa retreats, there will be special surprises along the way.

The food at Malabar Hill is one of the reasons people come back. In the open-sided Hill House pavilion, the kitchen cooks a generous mix of Sri Lankan, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes, with vegetables and herbs from the hotel's own gardens and fish landed each morning by the Weligama fishermen.
Mornings bring egg hoppers with fiery lunu miris, fresh curries and tropical fruit. Long, slow brunches after practice give way to candlelit dinners as the jungle goes quiet around you: tuna carpaccio, sticky aubergine, crispy-skinned barramundi, and the island's spices at every turn. Whatever you love to eat, and however you like to eat it, the chefs will cook around you.

Sunsets over the bay, a passion fruit margarita by the fire pit if you wish, and the kind of conversation that only happens a long way from home. You leave realigned, in body, spirit and mind.

After mornings on the mat and afternoons in the ocean, the spa at Malabar Hill is where the week softens. Ayurvedic massage, restorative body treatments and rituals using Sri Lanka's own Spa Ceylon botanicals, all a few steps from your villa. Treatments can be booked throughout the week, so you can build your own rhythm of rest around the practice. Our advice: book early, and book more than one.

Mercedes and Simon founded Yeotown together and host every part of this week personally: Mercedes leading the practice, Simon in the water, and both of them at the table each evening.
