We are so excited to announce our second Yeotown location on the gorgeous haven of beauty known as the ‘island of eternal spring’- Madeira!
Although international travel is restricted at the moment, we have decided to take the plunge and plan to have retreats running in Madeira this November all the way through till March 2022! Its the perfect little island to escape the worries of the world and enjoy some beautiful, warm, sunshine during the winter months.
Madeira is a dreamy little archipelago comprising 4 islands off the northwest coast of Africa. It is only a 3-hour direct flight from the U.K. Madeira known for its love of fresh food and warm, subtropical climate with average temperatures of 18-20 degrees in November! It is a haven for nature and hiking lovers, with 2000 meter high volcanic mountains, dramatic waterfalls, deep natural swimming pools, world-class waves and a wealth of wildlife. February also happens to be carnival month on the island celebrating food, flowers and family!
The Madeira Program
To bring this amazing opportunity to life we are working with Quinta das Vinhas. The Quinta is a unique, intimate organic vineyard hotel curated with love overlooking the Atlantic ocean. Similar to Yeotown, it is a family-owned 1640’s farmhouse with individual Portuguese styled cottages. Each cottage boasts its own wood fireplace, living room, and expansive views over the vineyard and sea. As well as that the property also has two swimming pools, inviting reception rooms, botanical gardens alongside an ocean-view restaurant, and will be taken over solely by Yeotown privately during these special edition retreats.
The programme will follow the same format of our signature 5-day award-winning Devon retreats. A copy – paste really! With all the same selection of mind and body activities and plus few more unique to the Madeiran topography. The hikes in Madeira are absolutely jaw-dropping – often starting above the clouds in the ‘land of rainbows’. They offer incredible views, fresher than fresh mountain air and dramatic landscapes. One of our favourites, ’25 Fountains’, is named after its incredible 25 plus waterfalls!
The Food
We are also making the most of the abundance of fresh, local produce while continuing to be gluten, dairy, caffeine, meat and refined sugar-free and plant-centric with some delicious locally caught, fresh fish options. With foraged foods and herbs and spices from Quinta das Vinhas’ own botanical herb garden, our Yeotown Chef Tendresse has carefully curated a menu with some Yeotown favourites and some nutrient-dense dishes with a Madeiran twist. Weather permitting, most of the dining will also be al fresco, making the most of the Spring-like weather.
Unique to Madeira are the opportunities to go whale and dolphin watching, canyoning down waterfalls and of course surfing. The island is one of Europe’s best-kept surfing secrets with waves for both the novice and the expert. Madeira is often referred to as the ‘Hawaii of the Atlantic’.
We are also working with Marilia Pereira, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Clinical Iridologist and Culinary Nutrition Expert, with her private practice Fleurish Holistic Nutrition and Lifestyle. Hailing from Canada, she helps clients worldwide both in person and virtually online. Using orthomolecular nutritional therapies, she specializes in digestion, immune health, fertility, hormone health, sleep, and stress management. Marilla will be giving group nutritional talks and discussions and will be on hand at mealtimes to discuss the numerous health benefits of the variety of ingredients used in the Yeotown dishes as well as answering your questions. In addition, Marilia will also be available to book one to one sessions tailored made for your needs and specific nutrition and health requirements.
